We kicked off our apple-themed week with a deliciously fun taste test! My local grocery store had 7 apple varieties in stock that day, so we got one of each and headed home. We usually stick to Pink Lady (my favorite) or Gala/Fuji (usually cheaper and most of us like them).
On this trip, we were lucky to score one variety of apple I hadn’t tried before, the Jazz apple, so I was excited to see if my beloved Pink Lady was in danger of losing her crown.

We used these cute printables to keep track of whatย we thought of each apple as we tasted. The kids all loved having their own little rating sheets to go throughย the taste test!ย
It was really interesting to see how many different textures and sweetness/tartness levels there were in the different apple varieties! Also fun to get the kids eating a bunch of apples excitedly! Ha!

At the end of the test, we used these worksheets to share our favorite apple. Most of us preferred Pink Lady, but we had one whose favorite was Honeycrisp and one who liked them all, but chose Granny Smith because his favorite color is green.
The Jazz apple was different from any apple I’ve had and reminded me a lot of Jicama! My husband liked it, but the rest of us weren’t as much into it. So the Pink Lady gets to keep her crown!
This was a super fun, simple (and healthy!) activity, and a GREAT kickoff to our Apple Week! I’d love to see if you try it and what the winning apple is in your home! Let me know in the comments or tag me on Instagram if you try it out. To see the rest of our apple week fun, check out this post!
Tell me in the comments, is there a favorite apple in your home? Or do you prefer to switch it up each time?
